About the Heal Coalition

The Heal Coalition is a statewide initiative for the state of Louisiana that will enable families to thrive by supporting and guiding institutions of faith to establish a framework of trauma informed healing in preventing suicide.

Why is the Coalition Important?

Our Mission and Vision

The goal is to equip and mobilize faith organizations throughout the sate of Louisiana, to respond to psychological trauma experienced by active duty service members & veterans.

Am I eligible for the Heal Coalition?

• You are an eligible faith institution, and
• You are committed to serving your community, outside of your four wals, and
• You are interested in tackling injustices, such as:
• COVID-19 Exposure
• Intergeneralization Trauma
• creating a safe place for healing
• the goal of preventing suicide

Trauma-Informed healing "broadly refers to a set of principles that guide and direct how we view the impact of severe harm on people's mental, physical and emotional health. Trauma-Informed care encourages support and treatment to the whole person rather than focusing on only treating individual symptoms or specific behaviors," says Shawn A. Ginwright, Ph.D., a Professor of African Studies at San Francisco State University and author.
